Body Literacy for Liberation: FAM Basics w/ Jessica Magdaleno
The Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) is amethod of contraception that helps menstruating people avoid pregnancy, obtain pregnancy, & generally understand their cycle. It is also a powerful tool to reclaim power over our bodies in a society designed to disconnect us from our intuition & reproductive rights. In this workshop we'll discuss body literacy as a liberation tool and learn the FAM basics from seasoned FAM user & future midwife Jessica Magdaleno. Suggested donation $29. Recorded workshop.
about jessica
I am a first-gen mexican-indegenous woman, poet, future-midwife and reproductive/birth nerd. I am currently finishing up my Bachelor's in Nursing at the University of San Francisco. I graduate in December of this year! For as long as I remember, I loved body autonomy and was fascinated with the reproductive ability of uterus-holding bodies.
I have practiced the Fertility Awareness Method as an effective birth control method for about 5 years, then I used it to become pregnant when I wanted to have my second child. When I gave birth to my first daughter in 2012, my world exploded. I learned what a midwife was and as soon as I heard it, my heart understood that I was meant for midwifery care. I believe in the sacred journey of pregnancy and birth as well as the sacred ability of each individual to choose whether or not they embark on that journey.
